Sometimes There Is A Reason - Ygnacia’s Own Stories

I have a file with some of my most important papers that I keep in a file cabinet at home, it contains birth certificates, passports, things of that sort. I always keep that special file in the same place, I never move it. Just yesterday right before I had to leave for an appointment I went to get some paperwork I needed from that file, but the file wasn’t there. Impossible, I never, ever move it, how could this be? I spent hours looking for it, enlisting the help of my son too, but no luck. I of course prayed many times for St. Anthony’s help, still no luck. I finally had to give up looking and change my plans for the day, so I canceled the appointment. I even reproved St. Anthony, “You know right where that file is, why no help?!” With the change in plans I decided to visit an elderly friend of mine, a shut-in that I hadn’t visited for a couple of weeks. As I was driving to her home I was telling my son how hard it is to not be able to trust your own memory sometimes, and just as I turned into her driveway the location of the file popped into my mind. I had put the file in a safe months ago because of fire danger in our area. As I visited my friend I saw that she had deteriorated emotionally and was in a very bad way since I had last seen her, she was clearly depressed and in such great need of a visit. I had thought to visit her that day once I was done with my errands, but most likely I would’ve gotten too busy and not had time if I had gone to my appointment. I am very concerned for my friend and so now I will visit a lot more often and I will see about getting other friends to visit her too. So sometimes there is an important reason why we don’t find things right when we think we need to, in my case the reason was that a good friend was in a bad situation and needed me. My friend is normally a joyful, vibrant person that loves to be around people, I pray that through the intercession of Good Saint Anthony she and other isolated people will find the emotional support that they need~

Have a story of Saint Anthony of your own that you would like to share? Please email it to us and we will post it on our blog~

PS - For me it wasn’t how did I forget where I put that file, but more of how did I ever remember where I put it! I have since apologized to Saint Anthony for being so short with him, but knowing him he probably just smiled and laughed; we are family after all and family understands and forgives.

Even In Little Earthly Things - Repost

Here is a repost of one of our earliest stories from when we started this blog:

When I first met my husband he gave me a birthday gift in a jewelers box, a beautiful, expensive diamond pendant, as that is my birthstone. I wore it and treasured it for many years until I became a 3rd. order Carmelite and started wearing my brown scapular along with it. One morning I woke up and although I found the chain on the floor, the pendant was missing. It must have flew off while I was changing clothes in my upstairs bedroom. For a whole YEAR I searched, never throwing away any vacuum cleaner bags even after I went through them. I was heartsick and after a year, finally decided it was gone and threw away the closet full of vacuum cleaner bags. My mom told me to pray to St. Anthony and though I had given up all hope, I did. Within an HOUR I was walking to my kitchen in the downstairs when something on the floor glinted up at me.... and as I picked up my pendant I started crying. What a blessing to know that even in little earthly things God cares about us! Thank you St. Anthony!!

Novena To St. Anthony For The Presidential Election

O powerful helper and intercessor Saint Anthony, we confidently turn to you and experience your powerful assistance in so many necessities, that we are encouraged in our need now to seek your intercession with God in the election of the President of the United States. Saint Anthony, your love for the Infant Jesus made Him present to you to see and hold in your arms. Lead us, for the sake of Jesus, who became a child like one of us, to help reverence and protect all human life from it’s very beginning to it’s natural end by voting for a President who defends the sanctity of human life. Amen.

Find The Openings In The Day

This from a good Traditional priest, for those that still don’t get to attend Mass in person because of COVID19 restrictions, and so assist as best as possible via internet Mass:
“May your Sunday be holy. Find the openings in the day, the cracks through which holiness can enter, even if only for a few moments. Draw on the Mass you watch, and let it be your guide. Love your clan. And give thanks.”
Good Saint Anthony, pray for us and for the whole world~

St. Anthony's Prayer To Our Lady

We ask you, Our Lady, you who are called the Morning Star, dispel with your light the thick fog of allurement to evil which fill our souls. Like the moon, replenish our emptiness, and dissipate the darkness of our souls that we may attain the fullness of eternal life and the light of never-diminishing glory. With His help who made you our light and although born from you, gave you life. To Him be honour and glory from age to age. Amen.

St. Anthony Sermon - On The Justice Of Hypocrites

Presented below is an excerpts of St. Anthony’s "Sermon on the justice of hypocrites and of true penitents", commonly included in the sermons for the Sixth Sunday after Pentecost. St. Anthony warns negligent superiors and prelates of the dire personal consequences of their omissions.

“If the ox was wont to push with his horn yesterday and the day before, and they warned his master, and he did not shut him up, and he shall kill a man or a woman: then the ox shall be stoned, and his owner also shall be put to death. [Exodus xxi, 29] The ox that pushes with his horn is the carnal appetite, which with the horn of pride kills a man or a woman: that is to say, his reason or his good will. Because his owner, the spirit, does not shut him up, he is killed along with the ox: body and soul will be eternally punished together. Hear this, you abbots and priors! If you have an ox that pushes with his horn, a monk or canon who is proud, a lover of wine and pleasure, and you will not shut him up, so that men and women are not scandalized by his bad example: the ox shall be stoned to death, and die in his sin, and the abbot or prior who would not restrain him will be punished eternally.”

The 13 Day Novena To St. Anthony

The Thirteen Day Novena to St. Anthony ~ traditionally done May 31st. to June 13th.
Day 1:
O glorious St. Anthony, born under the protection of Mary Immaculate, on the Feast of her Assumption into Heaven and consecrated to her at a tender age; you vanquished the demon by the Sign of the Cross, which your finger impressed on the marble of the church where you were praying.  Oh, we beseech you, obtain for us a tender devotion to our Blessed Mother, and the strength to triumph over all the attacks of our infernal enemy.
Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory Be
Day 2:
O glorious Saint! You escaped from the dangers and temptations of the world by disdaining greatness, riches and the comforts of life, and by joining the Religious Life; we beseech you, obtain for us detachment of the heart and a true contempt for the world.
Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory Be
Day 3:
O glorious Saint! You felt a burning desire in your youthful heart to suffer martyrdom for the faith, and for this purpose entered the Order of the Seraphic Saint Francis; we beseech you, obtain for us the spirit of penance and mortification.
Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory Be
Day 4:
O glorious Saint! Guided by sentiments of the most profound humility, you did all in your power to hide yourself from the eyes of the world, when God suddenly made you known as an ark of holy knowledge and sanctity; we beseech you, obtain for us the grace of practicing humility and of loving a life hidden in God.
Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory Be
Day 5:
O glorious Saint! Chosen by God to preach His Word, you received from Him the gift of tongues, and the power of working the most extraordinary miracles; we beseech you, obtain for us the grace to listen willingly to Divine inspirations and to hear with fruit the Word of God.
Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory Be
Day 6:
O glorious Saint! Your ardent love of God merited for you the happy privilege of receiving and caressing in thy arms the Divine Infant Jesus; we beseech you, obtain for us the grace of receiving Him in the Blessed Eucharist with love and fervent devotion.
Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory Be
Day 7:
O glorious Saint! You confounded the heretics and prove to them the Real Presence of Jesus Christ in the Blessed Sacrament by causing a simple mule to kneel down and adore the Sacred Host; we beseech you, obtain for us the grace of a lively faith in the Holy Eucharist.
Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory Be
Day 8:
O glorious Saint! When men refused to come and hear the Word of God, you called the fishes of the sea to the shore and preach to them; we beseech you, obtain for us the perfect submission of our minds and hearts to Divine truths.
Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory Be
Day 9:
O glorious Saint! As protector of the innocent, you made a child only a few days old speak to save the honor of its mother; we beseech you, obtain for us the grace of being strong and submissive to the Will of God in unjust persecutions and of preserving intact the peace and purity of our souls.
Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory Be
Day 10:
O glorious Saint! Once, while preaching at Padua, you found yourself at the same time at Lisbon, by a marvelous miracle, to defend your father against calumny and to save him from death; we beseech you, obtain for us the grace that we may pardon all injuries and love our enemies.
Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory Be
Day 11:
O glorious Saint! By your prayers, your zeal, and your heavenly wisdom you converted thousands of heretics and hardened sinners; we beseech you, obtain for us the grace of true conversion, that we may give ourselves entirely to God.
Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory Be
Day 12:
O glorious Saint! In imitation of our Divine redeemer, you spent your life for the salvation of souls; we beseech you, obtain for us the grace to become saints, to die a happy death, and to praise God forever with you and all the saints and angels in Heaven.
Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory Be
Day 13:
O glorious Saint! God has given you the power of working miracles continually, and the favor of answering the prayers of those who invoke your assistance in misfortune, anxiety, and distress; we beseech you, obtain for us from Jesus, through Mary, His Blessed Mother, what we beg of you so fervently and hopefully, if it be for the glory of God and the good of our souls.
Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory Be

Help Us Find That Ring

A woman named Ellen lost her husband's grandmother's wedding ring this evening. She realized this while standing in line at the Dollar Tree. My kids and I helped her look around and found nothing. She cried several times in shock thinking it was literally gone forever. I asked her where else she's been, if she could back track, and could we help. She said she was at Walmart just before coming here.
We met her across the street at Walmart and went in to customer service. While she gave them her name and number, I prayed to St. Anthony to help us find that ring. We back tracked all over the store looking on shelves, in freezers, under shelves, and were on our hands and knees on the dirty floor, but found no ring. She cried again. I prayed to St. Anthony again and texted my husband to pray too.
We walked her to her car and I asked if we could go through her Walmart bags. She said yes so I started passing them out to my two kids and to her, and we checked every one. I passed her the last bag to look through while I checked her car floor and backseats.
Behind me, I heard a shocked voice saying she found it. She found it! There it was in her hand after finding it in the bag!!! She wept in my arms as she held tight, and I was in total shock and happiness saying "Thank God! Thank God! It's found! It's found!"
It was an absolutely stunning silver ring with two large diamonds!! She couldn't believe it! It was found!! This could have been a disaster. It could have been lost forever whether at Walmart, outside, or in someone else's possession if they'd found it first.
Thank you, St. Anthony, so much for helping her find it!! Thank you for keeping it safe in her car!! You are awesome!!!
"Tony, Tony,
look around.
Something’s lost
and must be found!"

Thank you C.A. for your kindness in helping a stranger and for your trust in St. Anthony’s assistance. Have a St. Anthony story of your own to share and inspire? Email it to us and we will post it on the blog~
