St. Anthony Guides Those Who Are Lost

This was a story related to me by a friend who personally experienced it herself. My friend had gone on a pilgrimage tour of Italy over the summer this year including a stop at Padova. There was an elderly Chinese lady on the tour who couldn’t read or speak English. She had bought a souvenir from one of the stores, a folding fan with an image of St. Anthony and the baby Jesus. Then the tour left Padova and the group had stopped at Florence. At one point in Florence, the tour guide had led the group to some stores and the poor elderly lady went missing from the group. Someone noticed that she was missing and volunteered to stay back in case she showed up. The rest of the group went to the main Basilica in Florence for Mass, which was quite a distance away from the shops. After an hour, when the elderly lady didn’t show up at the store, the volunteer had also headed for the Basilica to join the group. Just as Mass started, suddenly the doors opened, and lo...the elderly Chinese lady showed up walking up the aisle to join the Mass on time. 

After Mass, the group asked the elderly lady, how did she find her way to the Basilica? It wasn’t explicitly on the itinerary and she couldn’t read or speak English. How did she find her way to the Basilica which was quite a distance away from the shops? So she explained to my friend in Chinese, that she realized she had parted from the tour group and was afraid as she couldn’t communicate in English or Italian. But she saw a young Asian man standing nearby and approached him thinking he was Chinese. He turned out to be Japanese and didn’t understand what she was saying. She then took out the folding fan with the picture of Saint Anthony which she bought in Padova and showed the young man. For some reason, he understood she was lost, and led her to the main Basilica - why ? she didn’t know.  But as soon as she entered, she saw the tour group and was relieved. Everyone was also happy to see that she had found them - it is true that St. Anthony guides those who are lost.

Oh My I Was So Happy

Hello - I lost my rosary and my elderly friend suggested that I pray to Saint Anthony. I prayed for several days, and then I decided to lay down and think about it.  Oh my - I remembered that I had gone to spend time with my sick friend, and looking into one of my bags I found my rosary. Oh my I was so happy. I thanked St. Anthony for helping me. God Bless.

2018 All Souls Day Memorial Mass at St. Anthony's Basilica

On November 2nd. there will be a Holy Mass at the Basilica of St. Anthony in Padua, Italy, for all of St. Anthony's devotees who are no longer with us. The Franciscan Friars will be praying for them, but also for those who grieve them. If you wish your dear departed to be remembered during the Holy Mass, please click here to send in their names.

2018 St. Anthony's Relics Visit Nova Scotia

November 4-14, 2018, Saint Anthony's Relics visit Nova Scotia (Canada.) This coming November from the 4th. to 10th., a friar from the Basilica in Padua, will bring two precious relics of St. Anthony of Padua to the diocese of Halifax-Yarmouth, Nova Scotia, Canada. The relics will visit churches in Amherst, Antigonish, Berwick, Bridgewater, Dartmouth, Enfield, Halifax and Truro. One reliquary contains layers of skin from St Anthony’s cheek, and the 2nd. reliquary contains a fragment of one of the Saint’s Floating Ribs. The Floating Rib relic has special meaning because it was venerated by Sister Lucia of Fatima in her convent in Coimbra, Portugal, in 1995, for the 800th anniversary of Saint Anthony’s birth. I Kept Praying

About a year and a half ago, I can't recall exactly, I lost my wedding ring one night while cooking. I was disconsolate and devastated. I looked all over and so did my husband. The following days I scrubbed every inch of the kitchen, and my husband went through the garbage and drains. I retraced all my steps around the neighborhood with my son. Sometimes my ring would get loose especially if it was cold out and I thought I might have dropped it. I mentioned how sad I was on Facebook and my cousins (from different sides of my family) said pray to St. Anthony. I did what they said but accepted the ring was gone and bought a cheap ring online. I kept praying though. About a month later I was cleaning out the cabinet under one of the counters and found my onions were going bad, so I was going to throw them out. I went through the bag and right there inside was my ring. Every day I look at my ring and know there are miracles. Never give up. Difficult roads often lead to beautiful destinations.

I Was Broken-hearted

I had a cross that I wore through my nursing years and I could not find it. I was broken-hearted over it. I turned to Saint Anthony and asked for his help. In the meantime, I made an emergency trip to Georgia and I felt naked all the way. Three days after I returned from my trip while saying the Rosary, I found it under a doily in front of Christ's picture.

An Unlikely Location

For several days my husband looked for the key ring with several keys for our boat. Today I joined in the search, re-checking places he had already looked. I checked a number of other unlikely places to no avail. After about a half an hour of looking I thought of the miracles of St. Anthony and started praying as I searched for the keys. Within minutes St. Anthony led me to an unlikely location and there they were. I truly believe in the miracles of God through the intercession of the saints. Thank you St. Anthony!

I Had Just Walked That Sidewalk

I was having another hard day in a series of hard days. I made breakfast for myself and my elderly mother, and then took my dog out for a walk. When I got back, my keys were not in my pocket. Luckily, my mother heard me knocking on the door and was able to get over to it and open it. The keys were nowhere to be found. I wondered if I had left them in the door in the night, but the car was still there and that would have been the easiest target. I decided to go back to where I had stopped with my dog. Nothing was there. I had already prayed to my friend St. Anthony, but this time I started praying really hard. When I was almost to the house--a block away--I saw the keys on the sidewalk. I had just walked that sidewalk, although admittedly my mind was somewhere else. Anyway, I picked up the keys and there was the image of St. Anthony I have on my key ring staring at me. By the way, when I got back, my mother noticed that the door was ajar and had closed it. But now I had the keys and was able to get in.

I Will Not Lose Faith

Yesterday I lost a beloved Saint Michael medal, I was almost sick over it, I did not sleep well. This morning I prayed a serious heartfelt prayer to Saint Anthony to help me find it. I found the medal in the yard within 5 minutes. I was astounded but overwhelmed with gratitude. In my prayer I said if it is God's will that I not have this medal I will understand and I will not lose faith. Thanks be to God and to Saint Anthony.

This Was No Coincidence

I lost my UK Permanent Residence Permit, Italian ID, & National Insurance Card -- I put everything in a folder and I couldn't remember where I put it. I looked thoroughly everywhere in the house for weeks, I couldn't find it. I went on your site "Saint Anthony – Lost and Found" and I followed the directions from post from Wednesday, July 10th., 2013, "How To Find Something By Praying To Saint Anthony"
I found the folder with everything I was looking for, it was in a cupboard with piles of theatre programs, a very unusual place to put it. This was no coincidence, Saint Anthony helped me to find it. Thank you St Anthony.

My youngest son and I had the great privilege of attending the Priestly Fraternity of Saint Peter's priestly ordinations in Omaha, Nebraska this past May. A young man we know and attended Mass with from our Diocese was being Ordained, so we made the trip from California per his invitation. Along the way of our trip we stopped at some beautiful churches, always on the lookout for a picture, stained glass window, or statue of our beloved St. Anthony. I Forgot About It

I have looked for a pair of shoes for my child for about three months. Today I cleaned and looked again but I still couldn't find them. I prayed to Saint Anthony, "Tony Tony, look around, shoes are lost and must be found." I Repeated this a couple of times, then I forgot about it. Just when we were having dinner my son, the owner of the shoes, came holding the pair of shoes. Thank you greatly Saint Anthony.

I Was Able To Breathe Again

Greetings from Canada - Below is my recent story. Over a month ago, I lost a pen-drive with some most important information. I searched the house over and over again without any luck. I started praying to the Lord and Our Savior, about a week or so ago, I also started praying to St. Anthony. I had been through the house, the trash bin, the car, - you name it over and over again. Yesterday, while watching the Mass on TV, the closing prayer by the Archbishop Currie included adding our own prayer intentions. I asked for the favor of finding the item amongst other petitions and then prayed to St. Anthony again. After the Mass, as I looked in the most unexpected part of the basement, I saw the lost item. Needless to say, after weeks of sleepless nights and worrisome days I was able to breathe again. This was my first intersession to St. Anthony and I am truly grateful for the blessing and favor received. I will continue to spread the word by sharing my story with friends and family. I Had Already Looked

I prayed to St. Anthony because I lost one of my hearing aids that would cost $1300 to replace. I had already looked several times under my recliner, thinking it might have fallen down between the pillows, but to no luck in finding it. Today after praying so hard and still not finding it I was in the process of ordering a new one. As I was opening my mail I dropped a letter opener and it fell down in between the chair, when I lifted it up to find the letter opener it wasn’t there so I shook the chair and out came my hearing aid. St. Anthony answered my prayer. I don’t have to spend $1300 on a new one, so I am donating half of what it would have cost in honor of St. Anthony to two good causes to help those in need.

Come To Him In Devotion

I am here to thank St. Anthony for what he did for me in the past.
Towards the end of 2014 I bought a laptop, but it was stolen within 3 months. Though I had someone I suspected, he never agreed that he stole the laptop, especially as there was no proof. I was awfully sad. I was not financially stable enough to get another one yet. The same day, I prayed to St. Anthony starting from midnight until day break, at one hour intervals. You wouldn’t believe that in the morning, the thief confessed to stealing the laptop and returned it to me. I couldn’t even believe my eyes. Miracles truly happen I thought to myself, and I was so grateful. I forgave the thief and thanked St. Anthony. I also tried to spread the story so that others can come to him in devotion. I’m sending this mail using the same laptop.

I Know It Was A Miracle

Yesterday afternoon I was looking for my card case where I keep my credit card, ATM card and my drivers license but could not find it. But I was sure it was just within the confines of my room. Ultimately I asked my househelp to look for it too. We put out all the bags I could have possibly used two days before. But I remember very clearly that I prepared the bag I was going to use the next day, removing some items including the card case because it was adding weight to my bag. As we inspected all the bags I was visualizing putting out the card case and leaving it on the dresser, inside drawers and inside another bag that I was not going to use. After a futile hour or so we gave up. Then I took an image of St. Anthony and through You Tube I found an appropriate prayer to ask St. Anthony’s help recovering my lost card case. Even as I pray I was figuring out how St. Anthony will do it. I said to myself, if St Anthony was going to help me, it will be by a miracle. And he surely did a miracle! The next morning I was having breakfast when all of a sudden I thought of going through the particular bag I was preparing to use the next day. Lo and behold St. Anthony did a miracle. He put the card case in a zippered pocket of the bag. If it was there the night before, I could not have missed it because I was emptying it and I was tapping it on all sides for bulges that could easily be felt. I know it was a miracle, thank you Lord and thank you St Antony. I have no doubt recovering my lost card case had to be a miracle. Amen.

I Had This Urging

Hello, I had lost my brand new glove and was going crazy trying to find it. A friend had suggested praying to St. Anthony but I felt funny praying for a glove. Finally, she wore me down so I took a few minutes to pray to St. Anthony. I had retraced my steps multiple times to no avail. The last time, I had this urging to look in a strange place....so I went into the breezeway and looked into an umbrella that was hanging upside down and low and behold there was the glove!! I normally don't have the habit of looking inside of a loosely folded up umbrellas but I am glad I followed the "urgings" because there it was!!

Dear St. Anthony, because you experienced disappointments and sickness in your brief life here, I salute you the more respectfully. Your own life assures us that you understand our need. There is nothing so humbling to us as sickness; it upsets our self-assurance and composure, leaves undone our daily tasks, takes away our feeling of usefulness, and forces us to depend on others. Help us, then, good St. Anthony, in sickness and trouble. Please teach us how to profit spiritually from our bodily ills. Intercede for us with God, so that our health may be improved. And as we recover in body, let us also be improved in spirit. St. Anthony, we ask the blessing of your intercession, for our own healing and for the honor of Jesus Christ. Amen.

What Are The Chances??

Our dwarf bunny rabbit escaped from his cage two nights ago. In our community there are possums, raccoons, stray cats and occasionally a hawk has been seen flying around. It was grim the thought she would survive the night. I prayed to St. Anthony over and over again for two days. I also did my part and looked for her for the following days and put flyers on several homes in my community. Three nights later, someone called they found my bunny rabbit! What are the chances?? Prayers do get answered!!

I Had Looked There This Morning

I never remove my wedding ring, but today I did not see my wedding ring on my finger. I panicked and walked up and down my block where I walked my dog this morning, and looked all over my house. I prayed to St. Anthony right before I went to bed, and behold, under my bedsheets was my ring. I had looked there this morning and the ring was not there. Miracles happen. Thank you!!! Amen.

I Was Distraught

Yesterday, I realized that the ring belonging to my grandmother (that my oldest sister had given to me nine years ago), was missing. The last time I had seen it was about three days ago when it was on the top of my dresser with my watch and wedding set.
My husband and I stripped out the bedroom, moved furniture, cleaned out every drawer, stripped the bed, and checked trash cans in the house, as well as searching throughout the house. I texted our daughters and asked them to pray for help to find the ring.
The ring is more than a piece of jewelry; it is almost one hundred years old, the only remaining piece of my grandmother’s. I am third generation Elizabeth and it is to be passed down to my daughter Heather Elizabeth and her daughter Elizabeth. I was distraught. I didn’t know how I was going to tell my sister that I had lost this heirloom which was very dear to her, which she herself had worn for more than fifty years.
After searching and researching, crying and praying, by night time I was exhausted. Using my cell phone I began researching prayers to help find lost articles. One of the websites I found was this one. I prayed to God and to St. Anthony repeating the prayers and searching one last time. My husband did his best to comfort me and prayed as well knowing how precious the ring is to me. We went to bed and I prayed until I fell asleep. I awoke at 3:44 in the morning and prayed until I fell asleep again.
The garbage man comes tomorrow and it was nagging at me to go through the trash to be sure the ring is not in it. I know that I have been lax recently in my prayers and also taking the initiative and doing my best to evangelize my oldest sister. In reading your website I realized that God will help (perhaps through St. Anthony) as is His will, that the ring may never be found. Also, that I need to make a stronger commitment to God. So this morning I did a brief check for the ring and began my research to write a paper to help convince my sister that Jesus was not just a good man; that she must accept him as part of the Triune God. After downloading many sources to help with my persuasive paper my daughter called and said that she and my granddaughter were praying and that she had a feeling I would find the ring. The nagging feeling to go through the garbage in the large containers outside would not go away. I decided to put my research aside for awhile and go through the garbage before the bins would be put on the road for pickup.
I headed outside and began with the recycling trash. Taking pieces out of one bag and putting them in another my search began. Halfway through the bag I could not believe what was sitting atop some soiled tissues. The ring! I instantly picked it up crying, “Thank you God” all the way into the house. My husband came running and I begged him to tell me it was real. He affirmed that God had answered my prayers.
Now that I have said my prayers of thanksgiving to God and St. Anthony and my witnessing to you, I will be going back to my research and writing the paper to my sister.
To quote our priests: “God is good all the time! All the time God is good!”

St. Anthony’s Relics Visit South Carolina (USA) 2018

From April 6th. to 15th., 2018, two precious relics of Saint Anthony from the Basilica in Padua will visit the Diocese of Charleston, South Carolina, USA. Fr. Maistrello, a friar from the Basilica of Saint Anthony in Padua, Italy, will be Saint Anthony's companion during this journey. The relics will tour throughout the State and will touch the following deaneries: Aiken, Beaufort, Charleston, Columbia, Greenville, Myrtle Beach and Rock Hill.
One of these reliquaries contains the Saint’s floating rib. This is the very same reliquary had been kissed by Sister Lucia of Fatima when it was taken to the nuns at the Monastery of Carmelite sisters in Coimbra, Portugal, in January 1995, during the commemorations for the 800th anniversary of St. Anthony's birth. 
Please join with all for reflection and prayer in unity and celebration. Be assured that your spirit will be elevated and your personal devotion will be enhanced. Together, all will reinforce the bond which unifies us as Saint Anthony’s family. Peace and all good~

Say A Prayer To St. Anthony

I had just thanked St. Anthony for his intercession in a situation a few years ago, when I discovered your blog, so I thought I might share it:

My wife and I had just moved to a new apartment, and many of our non-essential clothing items were still packed in boxes or bags in a closet. We were to attend an event, and she owned only one particular sweater that was compatible with her dress. I found her in a frenzy, amid a pile of displaced clothing in a closet, desperately searching for a sweater that we may have lost. In an attempt to calm her, and knowing full well that I've never found anything she couldn't, I asked to trade places, which we did. While digging through the same pile, although not precisely knowing what to look for, the words of my fifth grade teacher, Sr. Mary Potter, flashed in my mind, the words we'd hear if we'd lost so much as a pencil: "Say a prayer to St. Anthony." Which is exactly what I said in this situation. Now, my wife didn't know much about the Catholic faith until she married me, but she is a very faithful person, and prayed as I instructed her, very briefly. When she finished, I was holding her sweater in front of her. "See how that works?", I asked with a proudish laugh, but I'm sure I was more astonished than she was! She'd pulled out every article item by item, and I'd tossed through each pile at least twice. At the very moment we'd each invoked St. Anthony's name, I was up to my elbow, and pinched a corner of fabric at the bottom. As my wife was praying to him for the first time, I was pulling out the lost item, and had it before she was done!
This was a missing sweater. It wasn't a lost pet, lost child, or a lost pencil in Sr. Mary Potter's class, but it was my wife's first true introduction to the intercession of saints, and for that, and so much more, I thank St. Anthony! (I just wanted to share. Glad I found your blog, and I look forward to following. St. Anthony, pray for us!)

St. Anthony Does Wonders

St. Anthony does wonders and I am really grateful to have him as my patron saint. I have lost things in the past and he has helped me to find it. Ten days ago we noticed an important document of my son's missing. I have been praying to St. Anthony. Finally my husband and I decided to apply for a duplicate document since we were running out of time, but I still knew that he will help me. There were so many formalities required for a duplicate document. So I very fervently prayed last evening and requested him to pleeease help me. Last night after dinner when I went to my son's room, my eyes fell on a box of his last years text books and I said, "yes, it should be in that box, I have searched every other place." I said a last prayer to St. Anthony that the document should be in the box. I took out everything from the box and was disappointed that I did not find it, then put back each book carefully and to my great excitement, it was there. I am so thrilled and going to give thanks to him personally today. To my good luck, his relic is in my city Bangalore in India. Thank you once again St. Anthony. Yours in Christ Jesus.

I Had Almost Given Up

I had misplaced my social security and green card two days ago. I searched everywhere for it but it was nowhere to be found. Last night as I was about to sleep I searched for a prayer for a lost item on google and found the Saint Anthony prayer, I screened shot it and decided to recite it the next morning. I read the prayer out loud as I searched for my lost item; I had almost given up when I decided to look for it at a very unusual spot and lo and behold there lies my lost item. Thank God for Saint Anthony!

2018 World Day Of Prayer For The Sick

The Franciscan Friars at the Basilica of St. Anthony in Padua, Italy, will be offering Mass and praying for those who are sick and suffering on February 11th., 2018, the World Day of Prayer for the Sick. Saint Anthony is the Saint of Miracles, and those who are sick lovingly place their trust in his intercession. If, among your family members or your friends, there is someone who is sick you may send their names, and the Friars will pray for them. You will also be able to follow the 8:00am Holy Mass on live streaming.

Isn’t It Saint Anthony?

Tonight I was at work when an elderly woman approached the desk visibly devastated and said she had lost her hearing aide and no one had time to help her look for it. I went to her room and searched for nearly an hour, her roommate encouraging me the entire time. I got on my hands and knees searching the floor, under furniture, nothing. I felt horrible as I sat at her side and explained I couldn’t find it. She was just devastated, crying openly. I said to her roommate, who do we ask to help when we can’t find something? Isn’t it Saint Anthony? She said I don’t know, but I think maybe so. So I immediately asked St Anthony to help us find my patients hearing aide. I reassured my patient that help was in the way and stood up to leave the room. I looked down as I was leaving and the hearing aide was directly in front of me on the floor! Both the lady and her roommate were overjoyed, and the three of us immediately thanked St. Anthony for his aide. I’d like to say it again. Thank you SO much Saint Anthony!!!

He Has Been A Friend

I live in a house one-half block from our parish church that has a 24-hour perpetual adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, in which my shift is from 11:00pm to midnight on Wednesdays. I have shifts on other days, usually after midnight, and my neighbors are used to seeing me walk up to the church in those lonely hours. This has been going on since we started Eucharistic adoration eight years ago, so I feel safe that neighbors seem to be looking out for me.
That Wednesday night was no different. It felt safe walking up the street, but when I got into what I thought was an empty Church's parking lot, two strange young men suddenly came at me, I thought they were going to beat me up. They did not, but one of them violently snatched my handbag and both ran away, leaving me quite terrified. I ran to the adoration chapel and frantically knocked at the locked door, screaming for my friend Linda (the 10 o'clock adorer inside) to open up. I told her what happened and she called the police. (I don't know how to use a cell phone and I don't carry one.) When the police came, I described the thugs to them and they asked what my purse contained. There was no money in it, just: My Liturgy of the Hour (Volume 3) book, a very nice rosary in an embroidered silk purse, my reading glasses, my house key, a handkerchief, and a folding umbrella. Nothing that cannot be replaced, but I was scared that if the thugs discovered there was no money in it, they could come back and beat me up. Also, my book has my name and address on its inside cover. I was afraid that with my address and the key, they could come and break into my house. The police told me to give them pictures of things similar to what I lost. I could not pray that night, just knelt there in front of Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament. Linda stayed with me for the whole hour and later drove me home. When I arrived home, I scoured the internet for similar pictures of my handbag, my breviary, and rosary. It was only then that I remembered to pray to St. Anthony. The next day just as I was leaving my house on my way to the police to give them the pictures, two men knocked on my door and handed me my breviary book. They found it in a garbage can a block from the church. Oh, St. Anthony, who's ever so helpful in finding lost and stolen things! Thank you, thank you!
My handbag, umbrella, and rosary haven't come back, but that's all right. I have other rosaries, bags, and umbrellas. Maybe St. Anthony will find some uses for them, if only for the young thugs to learn a lesson. I just want to thank St. Anthony with all my heart. He has been a friend since childhood and he has never forgotten me, even if I sometimes forgot him and remembered him only when I lost something. Thanks, Ygnacia. God bless you.

He Heard My Plea

There was a time when my mother needed to have a check-up done in a hospital, so we both rode a taxi going there. I was charging my phone with a powerbank and carelessly left them on the taxi seat. As I climbed out of the taxi, I failed to notice that I was already leaving my phone and powerbank behind. I only realized it when we were at the hospital entrance already. By the time I rushed back to the drop-off point, the taxi was gone. I stood outside for a good 10 minutes, constantly dialing my phone with my mother's own phone. I was hoping that the taxi driver would notice the left-behind items and answer the call. No such luck. While my mother was having her check-up, I waited outside in the reception room, still not giving up on the call. I continued to hope that the driver would answer it and be kind enough to return my items. I prayed fervently in my head as the phone kept ringing but still, no one picked up.
When my mother was finally done with her checkup, she offered to try and call my phone for me. By then, quite some time had already passed, but she still tried anyway. The first few times bore no fruit. But on the 4th try, right as she had her phone to her ear, I prayed again, this time to St. Anthony. I prayed his novena and just when I was finished, someone had finally answered the phone call. It was the taxi driver and he was telling us where we could meet so that he could return my phone back to me. The timing of his answer and the timing of my prayer could not have been a coincidence. I was constantly praying in a daze while my phone was gone, but it wasn't until I prayed and directed my focus to St. Anthony that someone finally answered the call. Never have I been so grateful in my life. St. Anthony is truly a miracle-worker. He heard my plea and delivered my lost phone to me when I was so worried that the taxi driver would just keep the phone for himself (it is quite common in my area.) Instead, he filled the taxi driver's heart with so much kindness, the driver was willing to go out of his way to hand my phone and powerbank to me. Thank you so much, St. Anthony. You are truly a wonderful Saint.
