I Gave Saint Anthony A Second Try

Sometimes, St. Anthony takes a while to work but I believe he will work if the things are still around. More than half a year ago, I found that my spare remote control keys to my car was missing. I did pray to St. Anthony for a while but did not persist. I was in a hurry to make a new spare because I did not feel safe just having one set of keys. So, when I did not find it, I immediately went to get it duplicated in the next day or two. It was expensive but I feel safer having a spare key. After that, I stopped praying. Recently, after I read from your blog about so many people finding their expensive car keys after praying and also my friend's personal account of a similar event, I found myself questioning St. Anthony why he did not help me with mine. Nonetheless, I decided to pray to him again and asked that if the key is still in the house, to please help me find it. I do not mind having an extra set. A few days later, I thought of using a handbag that I have not used for a long time. As I took it out to clean the bag, what a surprise I had seeing the set of lost car key, right there in the bag. I do believe that it was because I gave St. Anthony a second try. I didn't give him enough time to do his job that first round as I was not confident enough in his help. I should have prayed more fervently and given him more time. Thanks again, St. Anthony for the help. I am still happy to have that lost key back even though I have duplicated a set.

Thank you M.H. for another great witness to the power of St. Anthony’s assistance. Have a story of your own to share? Email us and we will post it on the blog~

If You Ask St. Anthony

In September of this year, my husband and I experienced the loss of his wallet early one morning.  We panicked after searching the usual places...car, laundry, driveway. We then went to the last store we visited yesterday but their earliest hour for checking their safe was 7 am, this put us into panic mode. When I was driving home I kept reciting "Tony, Tony, look around,  something's lost and can't be found,"  and visualizing the wallet. Back home, I went through the garbage and laundry, before checking the dresser drawers once more. It was in the dresser drawer! This prayer WORKS. Here's the kicker...we are lapsed secular people of different backgrounds.  If you ask St. Anthony to help you, he will.

Thank you B.L. for your story of asking and receiving Saint Anthony’s help. Have a story of St. Anthony’s help in your own life that you would like to share with our readers? Email it to us and we will post it on the blog~

Say A Prayer To St. Anthony

I had just thanked St. Anthony for his intercession in a situation a few years ago, when I discovered your blog, so I thought I might share it:

My wife and I had just moved to a new apartment, and many of our non-essential clothing items were still packed in boxes or bags in a closet. We were to attend an event, and she owned only one particular sweater that was compatible with her dress. I found her in a frenzy, amid a pile of displaced clothing in a closet, desperately searching for a sweater that we may have lost. In an attempt to calm her, and knowing full well that I've never found anything she couldn't, I asked to trade places, which we did. While digging through the same pile, although not precisely knowing what to look for, the words of my fifth grade teacher, Sr. Mary Potter, flashed in my mind, the words we'd hear if we'd lost so much as a pencil: "Say a prayer to St. Anthony." Which is exactly what I said in this situation. Now, my wife didn't know much about the Catholic faith until she married me, but she is a very faithful person, and prayed as I instructed her, very briefly. When she finished, I was holding her sweater in front of her. "See how that works?", I asked with a proudish laugh, but I'm sure I was more astonished than she was! She'd pulled out every article item by item, and I'd tossed through each pile at least twice. At the very moment we'd each invoked St. Anthony's name, I was up to my elbow, and pinched a corner of fabric at the bottom. As my wife was praying to him for the first time, I was pulling out the lost item, and had it before she was done!
This was a missing sweater. It wasn't a lost pet, lost child, or a lost pencil in Sr. Mary Potter's class, but it was my wife's first true introduction to the intercession of saints, and for that, and so much more, I thank St. Anthony! (I just wanted to share. Glad I found your blog, and I look forward to following. St. Anthony, pray for us!)

Thank you so much S.D. for sharing your wonderful story of how St. Anthony helped you and your wife find - a lost object, and the beginning of faith in St. Anthony's intercession. St. Anthony is still evangelizing people with answered prayers, with the help of those who know of his intercession and are willing to teach others about it~

Coincidental? Absolutely Not!!

A few years ago I prayed to Saint Anthony to lead me to where my son lost his backpack in New York City...after praying faithfully his backpack was found a few days later, and surprisingly it had not been stolen!! It was the first time I had called upon St. Anthony and I wasn't sure if it was coincidental but I was thankful just the same!!! Just recently, I called upon St. Anthony again after I lost a sentimental piece of jewelry my husband bought me 30 years ago. I had been searching for it for weeks...I had taken the piece to a jeweler because I was going to have it repaired, and during all of the holiday hustle and bustle I had misplaced it and thought I had accidentally thrown it out or dropped it...I had searched and searched and was starting to give up hope... I said the prayer to St. Anthony and later that night I had a dream of the necklace being found...but it still hadn't turned up...A few days later...still searching the same places over and over again....on (1/7/16) I found a St. Anthony prayer card with a lovely medal. I held onto the medal and said the prayer and sat silently for a moment. He immediately showed me a sign which led me to where the jewelry might be...I looked in that place and there it was..... Coincidental? Absolutely NOT!! I am convinced Prayer and Faith WORK!! Thank you St. Anthony ❤️

It Helped Me Find Something Bigger

I don't really have a specific story;  I am more non-denominational in faith. Somehow though, I always felt that Saint Anthony was a very real saint. This last story is just a little story. I work in the medical field, and although lately I am worried about many things happening with my children and at home, I find I am more scattered brained than normal. The result is I am worried about my job too. I have keys to my office assigned to me, they open the office and the medicine locks. If I had lost them, I might have put my job in grave danger. As a single mother this was a terrifying thought. I prayed to Saint Anthony and began to look. I have to laugh, because I did find what I what I was worried about, money (my job)  (3 separate times in my search) and keys (long ago lost house keys one of the children misplaced). I retraced my steps and found a $5.00 dollar bill just floating by out of no where when I left a store I was in to ask if they had seen my keys, and then a friend who owed my money I had forgotten about stopped by and paid me back, and then a long lost gift card found during the search.
After that I found the house keys and had to laugh, Saint Anthony, I prayed, let me be very specific, and I was. Soon after I felt drawn to a certain corner of the room I normally don't pay any attention to. I kept feeling attracted to it. They shouldn't have been there, and I don't know how they got there, or how I found them so quickly - but I am certainly relieved and sure my prayers were heard (plus a few more.)
I am grateful, and so grateful that I wanted the chance to share my story, even though it is very small and insignificant, it helped me find something bigger - my flagging faith. Sincerely, S.N.

Thank you S.N. for sharing your not-so-little story of St. Anthony's help in your search. If you have a story of St. Anthony's assistance in your life, please email it to us and we will post it on our blog~

I Asked This Wonderful Saint

I am from a Muslim family but brought up in the Catholic faith, though not baptized yet and planning to soon. I heard in my childhood years that St. Anthony is the patron of lost and found. So I didn’t invoke him as I remember in my childhood years but now as I am slowly converting, I ask St. Anthony for his favours on behalf of my dad and friends.
My dad is a tailor, and one day he found a dress missing which belonged to one of his customers and the two of them were frustrated. I asked this wonderful Saint (yes, all saints are wonderful) and the next morning without looking for it, he found it  in front of his eyes.
And one day my friend had lost his wallet and it was stolen. My friend is a nonbeliever, but this Saint heard my prayers and after a month his wallet was found on the terrace with everything in it except the money. Thanks St. Anthony, Glory be to God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Ghost. Amen.

Thank you F.B. from India for your story of trust and confidence in St. Anthony's help in you life, and in the life of your family and friends. Saint Anthony truly is a friend in heaven, waiting to help all that ask for his intersession.  We pray that he helps lead you to Baptism and into Holy Mother Church very soon~

The Sense That I Should Ask Was Very Strong

I lost an expensive new birthday gift yesterday that I had only had for two days, a fitbit fitness tracker. I knew the window of time that it had been lost in and had been back to every place and asked dozens of people if they had seen it if they remembered if I was still wearing it. I had even begun to suspect it had perhaps been stolen by a pickpocket by a door to door sales person I met and shook hands with. By this morning I had made the decision to accept it's loss and marked it up to experience.
The next moment I saw someone that I know slightly and stopped to talk to her - She was looking harassed because she had lost an large expenses receipt and if she can't find it it will leave her seriously out of pocket. For the first time in two days I wasn't even thinking of my own lost item. We talked through every place it might have been and she said she would check a few more placed at home. As we parted I said, "You should send a prayer up to St. Anthony." Then immediately - I suddenly thought. I should ask at my sons school about the fitbit. This seemed strange because I'd already lost it by school pick-up time, and I still had it when I dropped him at school. But the sense that I should ask was very strong. I went in and asked at reception and there it was. Someone had found it in the street on the corner between some shops and the school, and handed it in there because they thought it looked like a kids watch. ( I have very thin wrists.)
I hope that my acquaintance (who I now see more as a friend) has found that receipt. I have a strong feeling it is in a book she was reading at the time she was doing the work.
So, intervention or focused intuition. I know that the two things are in the end the same. Thank you St.Anthony - x X x
I am glad to have found my fitbit and regained my connection and faith in people. Now I just need to make amends somehow to the street seller for suspecting them though I don't know how. It was wrong of me to have suspected them, because of their 'hard sales' style of being dishonest.

Thank you N.H. for your great St. Anthony story. In our post on 'How To Find Something By Praying To St. Anthony', it is clear that following your intuition is key to finding what is lost.

St. Anthony's Super Tuesdays

St. Anthony still amazes me!
I was not mad about him, (sorry St. Anthony.) My husband lost his job and he was unemployed for many months. It was not possible for him to be re-employed because of his advance age. He made two or three novenas to St. Anthony. I did scoff to my husband and said to him it is not working. He was determined because he felt that he trusted St. Anthony.
1) He got a job offer on “Tuesday” after going to Mass for St. Anthony.
2) He started his first day on a following “Tuesday.”
3) Our cat was missing for eleven days. My husband went to Mass for St. Anthony. After his departure for this Mass and he lit a candle before St. Anthony as he begged St. Anthony to have his cat found. We went out of our house and we heard a meow and we were shocked to see our cat. He was found on “Tuesday”
4) I posted a large package to my daughter in China two months ago. She never got it , even she went to the Post Office twice and they kept saying no. I prayed to St. Anthony for a help last Sunday and guess what! She got my package on “Tuesday”
I am still godsmacked and St. Anthony is a very amazing saint…He won my heart. I am now devoted to him. Super Tuesdays.

Thank you B.C. for your testimonial about St. Anthony, we hope that others are inspired by it to pray for the intercession of Good St. Anthony in every aspect of their lives~

Many people pray a Novena to St. Anthony on thirteen consecutive Tuesdays, per the instructions of Pope Leo XIII, or on all Tuesdays.

I Had Forgotten About Him

When I was younger I was a great believer of St. Anthony but over the years I had forgotten about him and hardly ever prayed to him. A week back I stumbled across your site, it was a wonderful feeling reading about all the wonderful miracles. Then I suddenly remembered my Mum had given me a small statue of St. Anthony over a year back, I looked everywhere for him but I couldn't find it so I decided to pray and literally in a matter of minutes I opened a drawer which I never expected to find it, and there it was.
Since then he has blessed me in many ways, and today he found my cell phone which I thought was never going to be found. Thank you for this website and thank you St. Anthony for everything.

And thank you to M.F. for sharing her inspiring stories of St. Anthony - we are grateful that she 'found' him again in her life through our blog, as that is our greatest goal~ Have a story or two of your own to share? Email us to have them posted on our blog.

Lost And Found Essay

In honor of all of those that will be starting school soon, here is a story from Martha regarding a lost and found school paper, found with the help of Good St. Anthony

When I was in high school I was very unmotivated to say the least. Sr. Martina was my religion teacher and I was failing her class. She told me to write a 1500 word essay and have it to her by Monday and she would pass me with a C. So I wrote the essay. I honestly spent all weekend doing it. When I went to school Monday it wasn't in my bag. She asked me for it and I told her I lost it and she didn't believe me. I cried I swore I wrote the essay and she told me to pray to St. Anthony. I did that and closing prayer for the day I put papers in my book bag and there first page in my notebook was the paper. I was so exited I went straight to Sr. Martina and told her. She made me a believer and now I'm a devout Catholic.
BTW - Sr. Martina I'm now in nursing school. It took me ten years since High School but I still remember you. St. Anthony has never let me down.

I Try So Hard To Believe

About three weeks ago I was searching for my daughter's social security card as she was recently hired at a new job. My wife and I looked and looked ... it was not in the "usual" place, and the last time we had needed it was three years ago. While searching I recalled the previous times St. Anthony had helped me -- finding a lost wrench to a locking lug nut, helping a stranger find a lost St. Christopher medal on the bike path, lost keys, etc. Now, though, I was aware I had a particular reluctance to pray to St. Anthony -- I told myself that I didn't want to bother him this time, but secretly I was afraid that after praying I wouldn't find it, and I was afraid I would begin to doubt ...

My daughter was getting anxious, and so I reluctantly said the prayer, "Dear St. Anthony, please come around ..." As I was saying the prayer, I knew in my heart I would not find it this time, at least not while shuffling through a stack of casino points cards on my wife's recently-cleaned dresser. I finished the prayer expecting little or nothing, but was entirely unprepared for what came next. Not one minute, not one second, but literally a fraction of a second after I finished the prayer a single card slipped out from the stack.

For the next five minutes I was reduced to tears on the bedroom floor. You see, you'd have to really know me -- especially these days -- to understand. Right now amidst my trials, I try so hard to believe but it is sometimes so hard to believe. God bless St. Anthony; in his simple act of helping me at that very moment he helped me to understand the reality of God's immediate presence in a way I have never before been able. May I ever increase my gratitude and devotion to this special saint and servant of God.

We are always so grateful for the truly inspiring stories of Saint Anthony's help that our readers send to us to share with the world - thank you to T.W. for one of the best, most heartfelt we have received. Please pass it on to anyone you know that needs an increase in faith in God's generous and loving care~

We Found The Cheque

I converted to Catholicism this Easter. I read this morning in the book "My Life With The Saints" about St. Anthony, the patron saint of lost things. Today at work my workmate lost a cheque worth Kshs 50,000. I prayed, "St. Anthony, St. Anthony, come around, something is lost and cannot be found" as I had read in the book. I prayed it twice or thrice. In about 5 minutes, we found the cheque. Had we not found it, he would have been required to pay for it. He thanked me, but I told him to thank St. Anthony. Thank you, St. Anthony!!!

Thank you to Barbara of Nairobi, Kenya for this inspiring St. Anthony story from AmericanCatholic.org~

My Husband Came To Believe

How my husband came to believe in the power of prayer- I always ask St. Anthony's intercession when I lose things and I am always helped, but my husband was very skeptical. He always found some "logical reason" why an item had been found. In 2001, we attended a family reunion, and while there he lost his watch and a garnet ring that had belonged to his grandfather. We looked everywhere, and grasping at straws, I completely emptied my purse, but they were nowhere to be found. We had to go home (three days by train and car) without them. He was devastated.I told him to pray to St. Anthony, which he did out of desperation. After we had been home about a week, I had a feeling that I must look in my purse. Inside, right on the top, was the watch and ring! My husband became a believer right then and often tells the story of this miracle.

Thank you St. Anthony Shrine for this great story~

St. Anthony Helps Find Lost Souls

Whenever I lost anything as a child, my grandmother would tell me not to worry, just to pray to St. Anthony, the patron saint of lost things, and it would be found. I'd often return to her a half hour later, holding up whatever I lost and she'd say "See? St. Anthony always comes through."

As I grew older, I went to her with other problems. She would still tell me to pray to St. Anthony. I would make a face, caught in the adolescent mire that convinced me my problems were beyond repair. One day after I rolled my eyes at her, my grandmother said to me, her blue eyes tearing up "St. Anthony isn't just for finding lost things. He also deals with lost souls." "Lost souls?" She nodded. "And if he can handle that, I think he can handle just about anything."

There wasn't much I could say to that, so I shut up, stopped rolling my eyes and gave St. Anthony another try, even though my problem du jour seemed insurmountable. It wasn't solved in a half hour or even a day, but I found that prayer and time did heal it. I began to grow up and learn that healing something doesn't always mean that what we're fixated on gets better. Often, we heal when we accept things and move on.

Prayer to St. Anthony is not just for the lost things in my life, but to help me keep my perspective when I face unanswered questions or when I struggle to find words to comfort a friend.

St. Anthony can find anything. Most importantly, for anyone who feels despair, he can even help us find our faith when we think it's lost.

Finding Prayer and Faith

I had been frantic trying to find my nursing licenses, why I would have misplaced it is beyond me. I have been a nurse for 20 years and had never misplaced it, so why now? I think to slow down and take the time to pray!!
Without it I could not work, so you see why I was so frantic!! Someone told me to pray to the Saint of lost things, and I didn't know who that was, so I was at my wits end and totally at a loss. So I sat down and looked up Saint Anthony. I stopped, took a deep breath and prayed for assistance. I was expecting it to just appear...lol but to no avail, I couldn't find it.
It wasn't until I was on my knees, near tears and the fear of not being able to go back to work, that I prayed out loud, going through everything I could think of. To my surprise it was in a place I never thought to think of. Funny how that works, just picked up an object and there it was, laying there. I fell back on my knees, praising and thanking St. Anthony and Jesus, God and Mary and anyone else I could think of.
It took me to lose something for me to take time out to pray and mean it from my heart and soul, not just words, but really mean it. I definitely make sure to always find time to pray now, from the heart, from my soul, and never take prayer for granted.
I had to tell my story, that you can't just ask and have it appear like magic......you have to continue your journey of finding what is lost - and I didn't just find my licenses, I found my Faith and my Father in Heaven once again!!

Have a story of St. Anthony helping to find something of yours - health, faith, an object, etc..? Email it to us and we will post it on our blog~

Faith Returning

Poor St. Anthony gets worn out from getting called on by me for help with lost objects, but he always comes through. :) Even my protestant husband will ask if I have called on St. Anthony.

Great story: Years ago, during my teaching career, a young colleague came into my room after school in search of a misplaced grade book. I hardly knew him, but a hunch had me ask him if he was Catholic. He told me, “No, but I was raised Catholic”. When he indicated that he would not do so, I told him. as he was leaving the room, that I would pray to St. Anthony on his behalf.

Seconds later, he came in astonished at having found the grade book in a place where he had looked several times.

Some days after this incident, he had misplaced his wallet at home and was tearing his house apart looking for it. In the meantime, he got a call from his grandmother, the woman who had raised him Catholic. He said that she told him to pray to St. Anthony. He was annoyed and told her she sounded like “a woman I work with” (me). But he related that after he got off the phone he fell to his knees and asked for our dear saint’s help. And, of course, St. Anthony came through again.

When So Many Have Lost So Much

When so many have lost so much... The widely publicized theft of the relic of St. Anthony from a church named for him in Southern California continues to affect people in profound ways. The saints so often experienced in their lives how seamlessly God can bring good out of evil, how we have all lost something precious and how much we need divine work if it is to be found again: Here is what one woman wrote: “Thank you for the blog and prayers to St. Anthony. I pray to a group of saints everyday, and it occurred to me recently that, except for St. Joseph and St. Padre Pio, they are all female. I was wondering which male saint, if any, I should add to my regular prayer requests for intercession. Reading your blog and the St. Anthony prayer made me realize that I should be praying to St. Anthony for something I lost 30 years ago and have only recently begun to realize is missing. As we know, God can take any thing--good or evil--and turn it to His purposes, even something as unimaginable as the theft of a sacred relic. The theft is shining new light on St. Anthony and his intercession at a time when so many have lost so much, including faith. God Bless and keep up the good work. Peggy
