A Contact Lens at the Beach

In the 1960's I wore "hard" contact lenses which at the time were fairly expensive—$400.00. I lost one while singing around a bonfire at night on a sandy beach. A group of us looked for it—a contact lens in sand! The next morning I offered Mass and Communion to St. Anthony for the return of the lens. About one hour later, answering a knock at our cottage door, there was a young person wondering if this was the place where a person had lost a contact lens and would this be it? A "hard" contact lens in his hand. It was. My non-Catholic friend almost converted on the spot!
